PRESENCE, FLOW & PURPOSE

Mindfulness-based Transformational Coaching

What is your relationship with this unfolding reality?

 

This question is our starting point. Until we are able to release ourselves from the fear-based stories of the egoic mind and learn to bear witness to the state of our inner and outer universe, we will continue to be swept up by the storms of craving and aversion. Clinging desperately to our desires, whilst pushing away our objects of terror, we remain at the mercy of our conditioned thoughts and automatic emotional reactions, spending our lives attempting to protect our fragile ego from the pain of losing what it wants and getting what it fears.

Deep down, we do not feel safe. So we search for the peace we long for in the world around us, reassuring ourselves that once;

we achieve our success;

are accepted by those people;

we heal our illnesses;

we marry our sweetheart;

we buy that perfect house;

we win our parent’s approval;

we become abundantly wealthy,                     

all will be well and we will finally find contentment.

 

But that is not how it works.

Mindfulness shows us a different path. Instead of trying to manipulate the world around us so that our desires are always granted and our fears never triggered, Mindfulness teaches us to release the shackles of identification with the ego, our false sense of self. The thoughts and emotions of the mind will continue to run on… and we exist behind all of that, silently bearing witness to it all unfolding. Eventually, we come to understand the teaching of the Buddha over two millennia ago: That we are not our minds. 

 

This is the clarity which mindfulness offers us. From here we can begin the deep inner work which leads to lasting transformation, taking our rightful place as the Captains of our lives and Heroes of our story.

In my Mindfulness-based Transformational Coaching sessions, there is no standard coaching template. You yourself are the agenda and you are the approach. We will use the tools and philosophies of Mindfulness to shine light on the limiting beliefs, habitual behavioural patterns and maladaptive coping mechanisms which shade your life and prevent you from being truly free. We will use other modalities such as Breathwork, Somatic Energy Release, Vocal Activation and Intuitive Movement when useful and appropriate. 

 

Our only objective is transformation.

The way to achieve radical and lasting transformation in our lives is to change how we relate to the universe - inner as well as outer. There are three dimensions of this relationship;

Presence, Flow and Purpose.

Presence ~ How You Meet The Moment

 

Our relationship with the universe begins here, within the infinite and ever-changing present moment. According to Buddhism, living in the present means practising non-resistance to whatever arises. We accept that whatever is happening in this moment is simply what is happening, without trying to resist or reject it. 

 

Presence also requires non-judgement. When we judge events based on our personal preferences, we are doing more than merely labelling them good or bad. Subconsciously, we are rejecting the entire cosmic unfolding of cause and effect which led to such an event in favour of our own (extremely limited) mental model. A wiser approach lies within the realisation that the complexities of reality are far beyond the scope of understanding and therefore we should accept all that arises as being part of life’s unfolding journey.

 

Lastly, we achieve presence by practising non-attachment to how the mind wants things to be. Instead of clinging to our projections of the future, convincing ourselves that we must reach our imaginary perfect future at all costs, we meet each moment with equanimity.

Flow ~ How You Move With The Moment

 

During our sessions we will learn to treat life as a dance, respecting the pace and rhythm with which the unfolding reality reveals itself. In our fast-paced world, we often succumb to the temptation to strive for results, pushing evermore frantically forwards, hoping that the future will deliver the answer to our prayers and cravings. It is said that impatience is a declaration of war against the rhythm of the universe. All too often, the casualties of this war are our own connection to ourselves and our sense of meaning. 

 

Just as dangerous is the temptation to hold back, to procrastinate when we should leap. Both striving and procrastination cause inbalance and disconnection from our own inherent sense of allignement. 

 

To move with flow is to move with grace and patience. To cultivate a keen sense of rhythm, so that everything is done at its proper time, nothing rushed nor delayed. To recognise that life is not a task to complete, but a dance.

Purpose ~ Your Soul’s Direction 

 

We are all given a unique journey along life’s pathway. However, we share one common attribute; inside each of us is a seed that longs to become a tree. Our souls yearn to grow, to reach their highest potential. To do that, we must first discover our highest calling. This is no easy feat - it takes exploration, trial & error and deep self-reflection. But as we follow the breadcrumbs, slowly we gain clarity into who we are, what is meaningful to us and who we have the potential to become. Then all that is left to do is take the leap and follow the calling.

Bohawi - Meet Your Coach

Mindfulness has been the anchoring point of my life since my mother gave me a free booklet on meditation over 15 years ago. Suffering from anxiety & ADHD, I was unable to cultivate the focus, consistency & self-discipline to fully dedicate myself to my dreams. 

 

That booklet changed my life. By the age of 31 I had become the youngest Mindfulness Coordinator working for the Hong Kong Buddhist Association, guiding thousands of secondary school students across Hong Kong and China in Mindfulness-based practises and meditation.

Following a 10 day silent Vipassana meditation retreat, I realised that I wanted to use my experience and expertise to serve those who feel the calling to deepen their spiritual journey and turn their dreams into reality. Drawing from my experience as a psychologist (MA Educational Psychology, Lancaster University), I began my transformational coaching practise 5 years ago.

 

Since then, I have worked with countless highly successful clients, from international violinists in the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra to technology CEOs in Europe. I have led dozens of workshops and retreats across Europe & Asia, including The Secret Garden, a 3 day transformational retreat based in Bali which I have been running since 2022.

 

My coaching methodology is simple. Yet it works, every time.
